In 2005, some African-American and the Latino employees filed a case against FedEx. It was primarily based on the November 12, 2003 filing in the US District Court in San Francisco, California, by FedEx's former and current employees against the company's racial discrimination. Derrick Satchell (Satchell), Kalini Boykin (Boykin), Valerie Brown, Rick Gonzales, Cynthia Guerrero, Rachel Hutchins, Tyrone Merritt, Kelvin Smith SR, and Ken Stevenson were the lead plaintiffs in the case filed in 2003 (Refer Exhibit V for details of Plaintiffs)...

The Fedex Side of the Story

FedEx denied the allegations made against it by the minority employees. The company provided statistical evidence to defend itself against the allegations. The evidence showed that the minorities in the company received higher appraisals and higher compensation than whites in many jobs. FedEx stated that its policies prohibited any kind of intimidation or retribution for any reports of misconduct by others made in good faith. In the Tisdale case, a FedEx's spokeswoman said, "We strongly believe that FedEx has a diverse work force. We do not tolerate discrimination."...
